Sabah Security is Top Priority

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the setting up of the Special Security Area (SSA) from Kudat to Tawau is proof that the Federal Government care for the safety and security of Malaysians in Sabah since the armed intrusion by Filipino militants. The SSA is aim to protect the sovereignty and security of the east coast from Kudat until Tawau. Besides the SSA proposed by the Prime Minister during his visit recently, discussions have also started on stationing security personnel in locations such as Pulau Gaya, Pulau Bum-Bum and Sandakan. State government will also provide land for SSA headquarters in Lahad Datu to expedite the establishment of the SSA.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Panglima Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein said his ministry is taking this matter seriously and will ensure that these initiatives were not seasonal but continuous. Hishammuddin stressed out the importance of the local community in stepping up security in the State.He also added that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar has confirmed that his deputy, Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar, would assist in strategies for the implementation of the SSA.

Sabah's Barisan Nasional politicians are strongly supporting this move and believed SSA will boost more confidence of the people to continue with their daily routines.
